The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Research Analyst, Internal Medicine Department, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine [R0151567]

ROLE of the POSITION

The selected individual will perform and analyze echocardiographic students in anesthetized mice, rats and other research animals of cardiovascular disease using an advance ultrasound system. Will acquire, store and analyze cardiac anatomy and function data using M-mode, 2D and Doppler methods. Will also acquire physiological data, perform analysis and generate quantitative information in pathological models, including animals with heart attacks and heart failure. Will modify echo protocols and optimize techniques as needed.

Will also perform histological tissue processing and immunostaining studies, which may require modification of specific steps in the protocol and antibody titer optimization. Will perform molecular studies to elucidate complex signaling pathways, as needed. Will work independently on research projects with limited need for guidance and direction. Will perform duties within the scope of the position while following federal and state laws and UNLV IACUC regulations.

This position will require extensive experience with cardiac ultrasound procedures on mice, and preferably in other species. This position will require significant past experience with basic research, especially in cardiovascular field.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an applicable field of training (e.g., Public Health, Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology or similar fields of Social Sciences) and 1-3 years of related experience . Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 1-3 years of experience with small animal echocardiography will be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-5 years of experience with echocardiography in mice

OTHER EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

• 4 Years of experience with small animal echocardiography will be considered equivalent.
