Role Description The Assistant role at Sunglass Hut in Laurel, MD is a full-time, on-site position focused on supporting daily store operations and delivering an exceptional customer experience. Responsibilities include greeting and engaging customers, understanding their needs, and recommending products that match their style, performance requirements, and preferences. The Assistant helps maintain visual merchandising standards, organizes product displays, and ensures the sales floor and stockroom are clean, well-presented, and adequately stocked. This role supports sales transactions, processes payments, and assists with returns and exchanges while following company policies and procedures. The Assistant also collaborates with the store team to achieve sales goals, participates in promotional activities, and contributes to a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment. Qualifications Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage customers, build rapport, and create welcoming in-store experiences. Sales and retail skills, including basic product knowledge, upselling, cross-selling, and comfort working toward individual and team sales goals. Communication skills, including clear verbal communication, active listening, and the ability to explain product features and benefits confidently. Organizational and operational abilities, such as handling transactions accurately, managing stock, and maintaining store appearance and merchandising standards. Basic technical and point-of-sale proficiency, including using cash registers, payment systems, and standard retail software. Ability to stand for extended periods, move merchandise, and work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Demonstrated reliability, teamwork, and a commitment to inclusivity, authenticity, and customer care.
