Kitchen Supervisor – Full Time Location: Broward Outreach Centers, Hollywood, FL and Center for Men, Miami, FL Job Summary The Kitchen Supervisor (KS) reports to the Food Service Manager and oversees the complete food service operation in the center, including cooking, menu planning, inventory control, training, and compliance with health regulations. Duties Plan menus and oversee meal preparation in accordance with the Food Service Manager’s timetables. Prepare nutritious meals for residents. Evaluate and document performance of employees and CSAs in a timely manner. Coordinate volunteer assistance with the Volunteer Coordinator. Request purchase of food and supplies from vendors. Ensure proper storage of all food and supplies after delivery, including labeling and dating as per department of health policies. Report needed repairs and recommend improvements to the Food Service Manager. Submit accurate timesheets and incident reports. Hold regular meetings to build rapport, recognize top performers, and identify improvement areas. Maintain records of meals served and employee hours to promote operational efficiency. Record purchased items and donated goods, and prepare reports for accounting purposes, including daily GIK (Gift in Kind) donations. Enforce agency policies with personnel and clients, including training on food service responsibilities. Ensure kitchen, dining areas, utensils, and equipment meet sanitation and safety standards. Lead or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities such as outreach events. Agree with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith. Perform other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Oversee daily kitchen workflow at the assigned center. Handle employee discipline in accordance with company policy. Lead, train, and evaluate staff and Christian Service Assignments (CSAs). Requirements High School Diploma or GED and food services management certification. At least five (5) years of commercial or institutional food service experience; culinary degree or related certificate preferred. Good moral character, knowledge of homelessness and addiction issues, and ability to lead clients by example. Food Handler’s Permit. Knowledge of institutional food preparation, storage, utilization, menu planning, and management. Valid Florida driver’s license. Ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency. Computer literate with experience in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Physical Requirements Work in kitchen, dining room, food warehouse, and outside areas that may be extreme in temperature, wet, slippery, noisy, dirty, dusty, or greasy. Possible exposure to moving mechanical parts, hot and cold equipment, and water. Must be able to sit for extended periods and lift or pull objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to taste, touch, see, hear, and speak to perform essential duties and interact with staff and the public. Must be able to move around as needed to perform essential duties.
