Medical Assistant IIPerform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support physicians and keep office operations running smoothly.Classification: Non-ExemptReports To: Practice Manager/ Clinic SupervisorEssential Job Functions and Responsibilities:Collect basic patient intake and vitalsPerform necessary point of care testingDocument all patient visits and communication in EMR properlyPerforms capillary blood draws, newborn screens, dental varnish, and routine hearing and vision screensProperly administer oral medication as directed by the providerHandles refills/ referrals/ authorizationsAbility to perform EKG'sProperly administer vaccines and injectable medication as directed by the provider (oral and single/multi-dose injectables). Must pass practice standards on administration for vaccines to become an MA IIPerforms straight catheter via sterile procedure as ordered by the provider.TVFC knowledge - ordering/counting/uploading tempsResponsible for training new MA staffMust have 3 years Medical Assistant experience or 1 year experience in pediatric officeAnswer back line phone calls as needed as well as accurately chart phone calls and initiate proper follow throughPerform necessary cleaning duties maintaining an orderly work environment and ensure an adequate stock of medical suppliesResponsible for all incoming school/day care forms for the assigned providerEthical conduct, confidentiality, and collaboration with the healthcare team are expected and considered essential elements of this positionCan maintain physical demands and work environment as listed belowEducation & Experience:Required:High school diploma or equivalent3 Years Medical Assistant experience or 1 year experience in pediatric officeCMA CertificationPreferred:CPR CertificationKnowledge of EMR softwarePhysical Demands & Work Environment Requirements:This job will require exposure to patient elements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May work in a noisy or distracting environment. This job will require exposure to patient elements.Expected Hours of Work:The core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. but can vary depending on location. This position may require some evening or weekend work depending on location.COVID/ FLU Considerations:If requested by any patient, then staff is required to wear a surgical mask. Patients are strongly encouraged to wear a mask if they are experiencing any acute respiratory symptoms or have a fever.
