A chemical company located in Baytown/Bay City, TX is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant. Training for this position will take place at our Baytown, TX plant for the first month or so. After that it will be up to 3 days/week in Bay City and 2 days/week in Baytown with a possible permanent placement in Bay City.
Responsibilities:
- Support senior accountants with daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks.
- Assist with processing invoices, updating accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Help prepare financial statements and reports.
- Process payroll and assist with payroll tax calculations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting principles.
- Support the preparation of audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or 5 years' experience.
- Proven attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software like QuickBooks, SAP is a plus.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and meet deadlines.
