Work Environment

Your work will take place on-site at a school, collaborating closely with educators and other mental health professionals to create an interconnected support system for students. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to accurately diagnose mental health disorders in students.
• Craft and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each student, employing evidence-based practices that promote effective recovery.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring their effectiveness, documenting responses, and adjusting treatment as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Provide a variety of therapeutic services, including but not limited to cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused brief therapy, helping students develop coping strategies and resilience.
• Collaborate with educators, parents, and other mental health professionals to coordinate holistic care and ensure consistency in treatment across various settings.
• Educate students and their families about mental health conditions and self-care strategies, empowering them to take an active role in their mental well-being.
• Document and monitor patient progress meticulously, including responses to therapies and medications, and conduct follow-up appointments to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Engage in regular interdisciplinary meetings to share insights, discuss cases, and enhance collaborative treatment approaches that ensure comprehensive care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with children and adolescents facing a range of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders, and trauma-related issues. Your ability to establish rapport with this young population is crucial, as many may be experiencing these challenges for the first time. Your role will not only involve direct care but also focusing on preventive measures and education to instill a culture of mental wellness in the school environment.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a current, active license as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas. Additional certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is also required. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong foundation in mental health practices and a deep commitment to working with youth.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, prior experience working in school-based settings or with children and adolescents is highly preferred. Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities and a passion for fostering mental wellness in a young population will be advantageous.
