Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Talent Solutions Partners has been exclusively retained by a leading manufacturing organization to identify an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager for their operations team. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an EHS professional who is passionate about building a world-class safety culture, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring regulatory compliance across a complex manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the plant leadership team, partnering closely with operations, engineering, and executive leadership to create a safe, compliant, and highly engaged workplace. Based in the Kansas City area, this position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on both employee safety and operational excellence. What You'll OwnSafety Leadership & Culture
- Serve as the site's environmental, health, and safety leader.
- Drive safety initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and accountability.
- Partner with plant leadership to continuously improve workplace safety performance.
- Foster a proactive safety-first culture throughout the organization.
- Lead employee safety committees, engagement initiatives, and awareness programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage relationships with regulatory agencies and support inspections and audits.
- Maintain environmental programs related to waste management, hazardous materials, and environmental reporting.
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to maintain compliance.
- Conduct facility audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and safety incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Drive closure of safety-related action items and risk reduction initiatives.
- Design and deliver safety training programs across all levels of the organization.
- Facilitate new hire safety orientation and ongoing compliance training.
- Ensure employees are properly trained in areas including:
- Lockout/Tagout
- Hazard Communication
- PPE
- Emergency Response
- Material Handling
- Forklift Safety
- Identify opportunities to improve safety performance, operational efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes, equipment, and workplace conditions.
- Develop safety metrics and reporting tools to measure progress and drive accountability.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading safety initiatives in a plant setting.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
- Experience with:
- OSHA compliance
- EPA regulations
- Lockout/Tagout programs
- Machine guarding
- Forklift training programs
- Hazardous waste management
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
