Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. This role involves supporting clients with daily living activities, administering medication, and implementing positive behavior support strategies. The DSP works flexible shifts including day, evening, and night, offering both independent and collaborative care to ensure client safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care and daily living activities
- Provide behavior support using Positive Behavior Support frameworks
- Administer medications accurately and monitor client health
- Document client progress and incidents thoroughly
- Intervene effectively during crises to ensure client safety
- Provide transportation support as needed
- Monitor safety and maintain a secure environment
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
- Certified in medication administration
- CPR and First Aid certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in direct support services
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills
- Effective problem-solving abilities
