Also based in our New York headquarters are our sales, marketing, administrative, and service teams, who work closely together to ensure every customer receives a seamless, personalized experience at every touchpoint.Role SummaryThe Histotechnician will play a critical role in supporting the operation, evaluation, and advancement of Clarapath's SectionStar™ and TrimStar Pro™ systems, our innovative solutions designed to improve and automate tissue sectioning and histology workflows. This position requires strong technical and histology expertise, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation. Working closely with our engineering, research and development, and product teams, this individual will perform hands-on histology procedures, evaluate tissue and section quality, troubleshoot workflow and specimen-related issues, and provide valuable feedback to support product development and continuous improvement. We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Histotechnician who thrives in a fast-paced environment, follows established laboratory procedures and quality standards, and is eager to apply their histology expertise to help advance innovative technology for the pathology and laboratory industry.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine histology procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, sectioning, staining, and slide preparationPrepare, handle, and evaluate tissue specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures and quality standardsEvaluate tissue sections and slides for quality, consistency, and suitability for downstream analysisSupport the testing, validation, and evaluation of Clarapath products and technologiesOperate and assist in evaluating automated and electro-mechanical laboratory equipment, including tissue sectioning systemIdentify and troubleshoot issues related to tissue preparation, section quality, equipment performance, and laboratory workflowsDocument test results, observations, procedures, and findings accurately and consistentlyProvide detailed feedback to Engineering and R&D teams regarding product usability, tissue quality, workflow performance, and opportunities for improvementAssist with the development and refinement of laboratory procedures, work instructions, and standard operating proceduresMaintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environmentFollow all applicable laboratory safety procedures, quality requirements, and company policiesMaintain laboratory supplies, materials, and equipment as neededCollaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced product development environmentSupport additional laboratory, product development, and testing activities as neededQualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field preferredHT or HTL certification preferred2+ years of hands-on histology laboratory experience preferredStrong experience with tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, sectioning, staining, and slide preparationExperience evaluating tissue sections and identifying common histology-related quality issuesFamiliarity with laboratory equipment and troubleshooting techniquesStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentationAbility to follow established procedures while also identifying opportunities for process improvementExcellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teamsStrong organizational and time-management skillsComfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience working in a pathology, histology, clinical laboratory, or research environment, a plusExperience supporting laboratory equipment validation, testing, or product development activities, a plusExperience working with automated histology or tissue sectioning equipment, a plusFamiliarity with quality systems, controlled documentation, and standard operating procedures, a plusInterest in emerging technologies and the advancement of laboratory automation, a plusPhysical RequirementsAbility to perform repetitive laboratory tasks requiring manual dexterity and attention to detailAbility to stand or sit for extended periods as neededAbility to safely handle laboratory equipment, specimens, and materialsAbility to occasionally lift and move laboratory supplies and equipment in accordance with applicable safety guidelinesCompany OffersCompetitive salary will be commensurate with experience and educationComprehensive benefits package available: (healthcare, vision, dental and life insurances; 401k; PTO and holidays)A collaborative and diverse work environment where our teams thrive on solving complex challengesAbility to file IP with the companyConnections with world class researchers and their laboratoriesCollaboration with strategic leaders in healthcare and pharmaceutical worldA mission driven organization where every team member will be responsible for changing the standards of delivering healthcareClarapath is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
