AI Engineering Manager | Oak Brook, Chicago, IL (Hybrid) | Up to $200K + 15% Bonus If you're an engineering leader who loves building teams as much as building technology, this is one of the most exciting AI opportunities I've worked on this year. I'm partnering with a market-leading smart home technology company that's making a significant investment in AI and is looking for an AI Engineering Manager to lead a brand-new engineering function. You'll be responsible for building the next generation of intelligent household experiences, developing AI that understands context, remembers users, recognises behavioural patterns, and powers highly personalised, production-grade AI applications. This is a genuine greenfield opportunity where you'll have the autonomy to shape the technical vision, influence architecture from day one, and build a high-performing engineering organisation that will play a key role in the company's long-term AI strategy. What you'll be doing: Lead a team of engineers across Python Backend, AI and Machine Learning Own the technical strategy, architecture and delivery of a next-generation AI platform Build scalable microservices and production-grade AI applications used by millions of customers Mentor engineers, drive technical excellence and foster a high-performance engineering culture Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to shape the future AI roadmap Python | AWS | LLMs | Agentic AI | LangChain | LangGraph | FastAPI | Microservices | Event-Driven Architecture | OpenSearch | Vector Search | Embeddings | PostgreSQL Location: Oak Brook, Chicago (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) Salary: Up to $200,000 base + 15% bonus They're looking for an engineering leader with a strong Python backend background who has evolved into AI, has experience delivering production AI systems, and enjoys leading talented engineering teams while remaining technically credible.
