A growing manufacturer of precision bearings, gearing, and motion-control components is seeking an experienced Sales & Applications Engineer to manage inbound technical opportunities from initial inquiry through quotation, engineering review, production, and delivery.

This is not a cold-calling position. Customers come to us with real applications, and you will determine the right bearing, drive, gear, spline, sprocket, or rack-and-pinion solution. The role combines mechanical problem-solving, technical sales, application engineering, and high-volume quotation management.

Our products support robotics, automation, radar and antenna systems, conveyors, marine equipment, material-handling machinery, and other specialized industrial applications. Many components are engineered to the customer’s specific requirements, and our open gearing is manufactured directly within our Hudson facility.

What You’ll Do

• Manage approximately 15 quotations per week for OEMs, distributors, and end users
• Respond quickly to inbound technical and pricing inquiries
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, loads, speeds, tolerances, fits, backlash, and mounting requirements
• Recommend appropriate slewing bearings, slew drives, gears, splines, sprockets, thin-section bearings, and rack-and-pinion products
• Size and select products based on load cases, duty cycles, mounting conditions, lubrication, sealing, and gearing requirements
• Cross-reference competitor part numbers and identify suitable replacement products
• Quote custom-manufactured spur, helical, and worm gears, splines, sprockets, and pulleys
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers regarding feasibility, materials, production methods, pricing, and lead times
• Manage longer-term OEM development projects involving custom designs, sampling, and multiple quotation rounds
• Troubleshoot customer application, installation, fit, and performance concerns
• Track opportunities from inquiry through order, production, and delivery
• Maintain accurate records of customer requirements, recommendations, and engineering decisions
• Help expand and launch a precision rack-and-pinion product catalog

Required Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving ability
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and fits
• Experience with gearing, bearings, mechanical power transmission, machining, industrial equipment, or engineered components
• Ability to manage numerous open quotations and customer requests simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to customers
• Highly organized, responsive, and accurate in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable following documented processes and maintaining detailed records

A four-year degree is not required. Relevant experience in engineering, engineering technology, machining, manufacturing, application engineering, or technical sales will be considered.

Compensation

• Base salary up to $100,000, based on experience
• 1.3% commission on eligible sales
• Approximately $160,000 in expected total compensation for a fully ramped engineer, based on current sales
• Commission opportunity on sales generated through outside representatives
• Defined first-quarter commission ramp to account for existing business already in process
