Operating Room Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Operating Room (OR) provides care for a diverse range of patients with various surgical needs. The specialties include, but are not limited to:

Orthopedics
General Surgery
Plastic Surgery
Urology
Cardiac Surgery
Neurosurgery
Vascular Surgery
Ophthalmic Surgery
Gynecology (GYN)
Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT)
Thoracic Surgery
Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery
Trauma care (Level 1 Trauma Center)

The OR is equipped with advanced technology, including two Da Vinci surgical robots utilized across multiple services and transplant programs involving livers, kidneys, and hearts.

Job Duties

Assist in the care and management of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Provide both scrub and circulate duties during operations.
Collaborate with surgical teams and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Participate in callbacks, floating between units, and manage holiday and weekend shifts as needed.

Job Requirements

Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New York.
Minimum of two (2) years of operating room experience in a Level 1 trauma environment.
Ability to scrub and circulate in surgery.
Telemetry experience is highly desired.

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.

Preferred Surgical Experience

Experience with specialty cases, including transplants, plastics, and reconstructive surgeries.
Craniotomy experience.
A strong background in orthopedic surgeries.
