Telecom Attendant

Job Description

Position Summary To effectively handle communications and codes through the switchboard and to relay calls and messages to the proper person or department using a pleasant, clear phone voice and proper etiquette skills so that customers perceive excellent, competent service.

Responsibilities

• Operates the PBX answering incoming and in-house call requests.
• Responds to all emergency codes quickly and calmly with appropriate overhead paging.
• Contacts patients for an address update as indicated by Supervisor.
• Reviews updates in the communication book and initial memos.
• Inventories contents of safe at the beginning of each shift in the presence of a security guard.
• Assigns loaner beepers and programs new beepers.
• Ensures courteous and professional dialog with all customers.
• Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements
  • Special Skills: Must be able to react quickly and calmly to emergency situations and work without direct supervision.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Must exude excellent communication skills including proper phone etiquette.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Experience: On the job training.

• Preferred Requirements
  • Experience: Previous switchboard or telephone experience.
