Boater’s World Manufacturing Group is seeking a Human Resources & EHS Coordinator to support our manufacturing operation in Chocowinity, North Carolina.
The Human Resources & EHS Coordinator supports the Human Resources Generalist with the daily administration of Human Resources and Environmental, Health & Safety activities for the facility. This position assists with onboarding, employee records, recruiting, attendance, HR transactions, safety training, incident documentation, workers’ compensation, OSHA recordkeeping, and other day-to-day HR and EHS responsibilities.
This is a hands-on, early-career HR and safety position with regular interaction with employees and supervisors and a visible presence on the manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, safety-minded, and interested in developing a career within manufacturing Human Resources and EHS.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Human Resources Support
- Support the Human Resources Generalist with daily on-site HR activities
- Assist employees and supervisors with routine HR questions and requests
- Support onboarding, orientation, attendance tracking, employee documentation, and HR transactions
- Assist with recruiting and workforce planning for hourly and salaried manufacturing positions
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements and new-hire documentation
- Assist with employee-relations fact gathering and documentation while appropriately escalating sensitive or significant matters
- Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files and employee records
- Coordinate HRIS updates, employee status changes, payroll inputs, and other HR documentation
- Support benefits communication, leave documentation, and employee follow-up
- Assist with workers’ compensation administration and return-to-work coordination
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the manufacturing facility
Environmental, Health & Safety Support
- Assist the Human Resources Generalist and Operations leadership with the administration of facility EHS programs
- Conduct routine production-floor safety inspections and observations
- Assist with job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and identification of workplace hazards
- Track safety corrective actions and follow up with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and other departments
- Support incident response, initial reporting, investigation documentation, and corrective-action tracking
- Assist with injury and illness documentation and OSHA recordkeeping
- Maintain OSHA 300, 301, and 300A records as directed
- Support workers’ compensation documentation and injury follow-up
- Help maintain required environmental, safety, and company documentation
- Immediately escalate serious incidents, imminent hazards, or regulatory concerns to appropriate leadership
- Exercise authority to stop or pause work when an imminent safety hazard is identified and immediately notify appropriate plant leadership
Safety Training & Compliance
- Coordinate, deliver, and track required employee safety training
- Support new-hire safety orientation
- Assist with training related to Hazard Communication, PPE, emergency response, forklift safety, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, ergonomics, and other site-specific programs
- Help maintain chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheets, and required labeling
- Support hazardous-waste practices, environmental documentation, industrial hygiene activities, and contractor safety requirements
- Assist with safety committee meetings, drills, inspections, and internal audits
- Maintain accurate training records and required compliance documentation
- Help prepare and organize records for internal audits and agency inspections
Employee & Operational Support
- Communicate regularly with hourly employees, supervisors, and plant leadership regarding HR and safety matters
- Support multiple production areas and shifts as business needs require
- Help identify recurring employee, attendance, safety, or workplace concerns
- Follow up on assigned HR and safety actions to help ensure timely completion
- Support employee communications, events, training, and engagement initiatives
- Assist with special HR, EHS, and continuous-improvement projects
- Independently assess routine HR and EHS concerns and recommend appropriate next steps to the Human Resources Generalist or leadership
Reporting & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate HR, safety, training, incident, and workers’ compensation records
- Assist with tracking HR and EHS metrics
- Monitor open corrective actions and follow-up requirements
- Help identify trends involving incidents, injuries, attendance, employee concerns, and safety observations
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, documentation, and other information for HR and plant leadership
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriate record-retention practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of combined Human Resources, safety, workers’ compensation, or EHS support experience
- Experience supporting HR administration, onboarding, safety training, incident documentation, corrective-action tracking, workers’ compensation, OSHA recordkeeping, or similar responsibilities
- Basic working knowledge of OSHA General Industry requirements and workplace safety practices
- Ability to learn and consistently apply company policies, safety standards, and established procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with hourly employees, supervisors, technical teams, and leadership
- Strong documentation, organization, training, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience using HRIS, incident-management, EHS tracking, or similar business systems
- Ability to work full-time on-site in an active manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Human Resources or EHS experience within a manufacturing environment
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or other professional HR certification
- OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training
- Boat, marine, composites, fiberglass, chemical, automotive, powersports, or other durable-goods manufacturing experience
- Experience with workers’ compensation and return-to-work coordination
- Experience with environmental documentation or manufacturing safety programs
- Experience supporting multi-shift manufacturing operations
- Experience with Paylocity or a comparable HRIS
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in both office and active manufacturing environments
- Regular presence on the manufacturing floor is required
- Exposure may include noise, dust, fiberglass/composite materials, chemicals, odors, varying temperatures, moving equipment, and other manufacturing conditions
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, and climb stairs or ladders as required
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 35 pounds
- Must wear required PPE while working in designated manufacturing areas
- Where respirator use is required, must satisfy applicable medical-evaluation and fit-testing requirements
- Ability to periodically adjust working hours to support multiple shifts, training, incidents, investigations, audits, or urgent plant needs
