Subsidiary Rights Assistant, Children's Publishing

Position Overview Simon & Schuster seeks a Subsidiary Rights Assistant to join its team. This individual will report directly to the Vice President, Director of Children’s Subsidiary Rights, and will support the Director and the rest of the Subsidiary Rights department. The role offers the opportunity to work on both foreign and domestic rights and collaborate closely with other departments within the children’s publishing group. Key Responsibilities Providing administrative support to the Director and other department members. Negotiating and managing customer requests for electronic files and processing file billing. Assisting in the production of seasonal rights guides and preparing materials for various conferences and customer presentations. Supporting contract processing and maintaining the department databases and files. Organizing manuscripts and materials for foreign and domestic submissions and supporting department colleagues. Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Capacity to multitask and exhibit self-motivation. Computer proficiency, including solid understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Work Arrangement This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our NYC office. Benefits & Compensation The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on a variety of job‑related factors, including location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
