Job Title Student Lrning Facilitator III - Math Tutor (Northern Location) Job ID 319054 Location Rio Salado Community College Employment Type Temporary Hourly Rate $20 – $26 per hour, DOE Benefits Not Eligible for Benefits Work Schedule Monday – Thursday 9 AM – 1 PM or 5 PM – 9 PM Job Summary In this position, the Learning Facilitator III (math tutor) provides in‑person, personalized learning support to Rio Salado College students to enhance their understanding, skills, and overall academic performance while fostering relationships with students, staff, and faculty. Sessions may be one‑on‑one or in small groups. To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus. Essential Functions 90% – Facilitates student learning by helping to clarify specific course content and promoting/modeling critical thinking, understanding, and problem‑solving skills for conceptual understanding and learning; and demonstrating, modeling, and using appropriate learning/study strategies to promote self‑regulated learning. Helps students achieve their learning potential and succeed academically. 10% – Attends and actively participates in any scheduled tutor training and meetings; maintains a clean and studious environment in the Center; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree required Completion of math courses or the equivalent course. Must have received at least a ‘B’ (preferably an ‘A’) Preferred candidate has taught or taken the math course no more than two years ago unless the courses have been tutored more recently Strong willingness to learn and apply innovative strategies for supporting students Sensitivity to varied educational levels/background and cultural differences Interest in the process associated with learning, problem solving, and critical thinking Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Ability to work independently and professionally Ability and willingness to participate in pre‑semester training and semester training sessions Experience with MS Office or Google Workspace and video‑conferencing platform EEO, Title IX, & Clery Act Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) will not discriminate, nor tolerate discrimination in employment or education, against any applicant, employee, or student because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship status (including document abuse), age, disability, veteran status, or genetic information.
