Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs manufacturing and plant equipment in a medical device production environment. This role diagnoses equipment malfunctions, replaces defective components, and supports production, operations, maintenance, safety, and process improvement initiatives. The technician uses technical documentation, testing equipment, and analytical skills to ensure reliable equipment performance and contributes to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing and plant equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Replace defective mechanical, electrical, and electronic components in production and plant equipment.
• Interpret and use schematics, drawings, specifications, blueprints, manuals, and other technical documentation to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Conduct equipment testing and validation using appropriate testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance and repair records, including documentation of work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
• Gather, compile, and analyze technical data related to equipment performance and maintenance activities.
• Perform mathematical calculations and develop technical reports to support maintenance, reliability, and process improvement initiatives.
• Identify equipment and process performance issues and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Support production, operations, and maintenance teams by responding to equipment issues and minimizing downtime.
• Participate in safety practices and support a safe working environment in the manufacturing facility.
• Assist with modifications or redesigns of existing manufacturing equipment as needed to improve performance or address recurring issues.
• Support process improvement activities by providing technical input and implementing approved changes.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and electronic testing equipment to perform daily maintenance tasks.
• Communicate technical information clearly to internal teams, including production, engineering, and operations.
• Provide guidance and support to junior technicians and new employees when required.
• Work independently under moderate supervision while managing assigned tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of relevant maintenance, manufacturing, or technician experience.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing equipment failures and performing corrective repairs on production and plant equipment.
• Ability to replace defective mechanical, electrical, and electronic components safely and accurately.
• Proficiency in interpreting schematics, drawings, specifications, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Experience conducting equipment testing and validation using testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills applied to mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing equipment, systems, and maintenance practices.
• Ability to interpret and apply technical documentation in day-to-day maintenance activities.
• Experience maintaining maintenance records and repair documentation with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to compile and analyze technical data to support decision-making and process improvement.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Effective communication skills for conveying technical information to internal teams.
• Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving ability in a production environment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and safe work practices in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently under moderate supervision in a fast-paced setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Vocational, technical school, trade school, or equivalent technical certification is preferred.
• Experience supporting production, operations, and process improvement activities.
• Familiarity with medical device manufacturing environments or regulated manufacturing settings.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and electronic testing equipment in maintenance work.
• Ability to develop technical reports and perform mathematical calculations related to equipment performance and maintenance.
• Experience providing guidance or informal mentorship to entry-level or junior technicians.
• Strong documentation habits and ability to follow established procedures and standards.
• Comfort working as an individual contributor while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing and production facility within a medical device manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician works in an equipment maintenance and operations support capacity, providing hands-on technical support for mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment. The position involves regular interaction with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, maintenance, and operations, and functions as an individual contributor under moderate supervision. The environment is fast-paced and requires frequent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and timely response to equipment issues. Daily work includes routine maintenance activities as well as occasional participation in process improvement initiatives and equipment modification projects. The role may also include providing support and guidance to entry-level technicians while working with various tools, testing instruments, and diagnostic equipment on the production floor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eatontown, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
