Development Associate

Women’s World Banking is seeking a curious, detail-oriented Associate or Senior Associate to help grow and strengthen our global funding pipeline. This role supports prospect research, funding opportunity monitoring, donor intelligence, pipeline management, and other priorities for a mission-driven Development team focused on advancing women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion. Key Responsibilities Prospect Research & Pipeline Development Identify, research, and qualify prospective institutional funders—including foundations, corporations, bilateral and multilateral donors, and donor collaboratives—aligned with Women’s World Banking’s strategy and funding priorities. Assess prospects for mission fit, funding interests, geography, giving history, relationship pathways, and likelihood of engagement. Translate research into concise, actionable summaries that help relationship managers prioritize prospects and determine next steps. Funding Opportunity Mining & Market Intelligence Monitor RFPs, donor initiatives, challenges, prizes, and partnership opportunities relevant to Women’s World Banking’s priorities. Use databases, alerts, newsletters, search tools, and other resources to surface timely opportunities. Prepare decision-ready opportunity summaries that highlight alignment, eligibility, competitiveness, value, and timeline. AI, Technology & Prospecting Innovation Use AI-enabled and traditional research tools to improve the speed, quality, and organization of prospect and opportunity research. Test and document practical search strategies, prompts, and workflows the team can reuse. Apply sound judgment, source validation, confidentiality, data privacy, and responsible AI practices. Prepare donor and prospect briefs, background research, and other materials to support relationship managers, senior leaders, donor meetings, and outreach. Support targeted one-to-one, one-to-some, and one-to-many donor and prospect outreach, including developing contact lists, preparing outreach materials, coordinating communications, and tracking follow-up. Research relevant contacts, connections, events, and engagement opportunities that can help the Development team build relationships with priority prospects. Support Development-led donor and prospect events, including invitation lists, attendee research, briefing materials, logistics, and post-event follow-up. Maintain accurate prospect, outreach, and engagement information in Salesforce and help track next steps and movement of prospects through the pipeline. Provide research, coordination, and other Development support as needed to advance fundraising priorities. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. One to three years of experience in research, fundraising, philanthropy, business development, international development, market research, competitive intelligence, or a related field; strong internships, fellowships, or project-based experience are welcome. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information into clear recommendations. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Comfort with Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce, prospect research tools, funding databases, or AI-enabled tools You May Be a Great Fit If You... Measures of Success Within the first 90 days Build working knowledge of Women’s World Banking’s strategy, funding priorities, donor base, and prospect pipeline. Produce concise prospect and opportunity summaries that help the team assess fit, priority, and next steps. Maintain accurate Salesforce records and begin identifying practical improvements to research and opportunity-tracking workflows. Within the first six months Maintain a refreshed pipeline of qualified institutional prospects and relevant funding opportunities. Move researched prospects and opportunities into active consideration by relationship managers.
