Commercial Finance Director

Our client is a global, high-growth beauty and consumer products company with a portfolio of highly recognized professional and consumer brands across hair care, hair color, nails, and beauty technology. The company operates globally and has a particularly significant presence in the U.S., which represents one of its largest and most strategically important markets. The organization is backed by a leading private equity sponsor and is undergoing a significant transformation of its North American Finance organization. The Opportunity: The company is seeking a Director of Commercial & Brand Finance to serve as the financial leader for a major U.S. business portfolio. This is not a traditional FP&A role . The successful candidate will operate as a true “Brand CFO” / business-unit finance leader , partnering closely with the CFO, General Manager, Sales, Marketing and other senior executives. The role will have significant ownership over the financial performance of the business, including revenue, pricing, mix, trade spend, customer profitability, brand investment, marketing ROI, innovation economics and strategic planning . This is also a transformation opportunity . The North American Finance organization is being rebuilt and upgraded, providing the incoming leader with significant latitude to improve processes, develop the team, establish stronger analytical capabilities and fundamentally influence how Commercial Finance operates. Key Responsibilities Serve as the end-to-end financial leader for the business, owning the commercial and brand finance agenda. Lead P&L management across revenue, gross-to-net, gross margin, advertising/consumer promotion and operating contribution. Partner with Sales and Marketing leadership on pricing, mix, promotions, trade terms and customer strategy . Analyze customer and channel profitability and provide recommendations to improve business performance. Lead brand P&L management, long-range planning and strategic financial analysis. Evaluate marketing and advertising investments and measure ROI and effectiveness . Develop financial models and business cases for innovation, new products and strategic initiatives. Support pricing strategy and portfolio optimization. Provide senior leadership with actionable analytics, dashboards and performance insights. Partner with commercial leaders on customer negotiations and strategic opportunities. Establish stronger commercial finance processes, governance and financial controls. Lead and develop a distributed Commercial and Brand Finance team across the U.S. and Mexico. Improve forecasting, reporting, analytics and decision-making capabilities across the organization. Act as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership and proactively identify opportunities to improve business performance. Must Haves 9+ years of progressive Finance experience with significant Commercial Finance / Brand Finance experience. Strong understanding of P&L management and the commercial drivers behind revenue, margin and profitability . Demonstrated experience with several of the following: Pricing and mix Trade spend / gross-to-net Customer and channel profitability Promotions and trade terms Brand investment Marketing ROI Forecasting and financial modeling Ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear commercial recommendations and decisions . Strong executive presence and ability to partner effectively with senior Sales, Marketing and General Management leaders . Strong analytical capabilities and intellectual curiosity. Demonstrated ability to challenge existing processes and drive meaningful change. Proven leadership experience developing and elevating Finance teams. Comfortable operating in a hands-on, lean and entrepreneurial environment . Preferred Background CPG, FMCG, beauty, personal care or other sophisticated branded consumer products. Experience in a Brand CFO, Category Finance, Business Unit Finance or Commercial Finance model. Experience with mass retail, beauty specialty, club and/or e-commerce channels. Exposure to marketing ROI, pricing architecture and portfolio economics. Background with a leading consumer organization such as P&G, Unilever, L'Oréal or similar. MBA, CPA, CMA or other advanced credential. Finance/strategy consulting experience combined with meaningful operating-company Finance experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr Conexus
