Temporary Benefits Specialist (Contract)


About the Role

We are seeking a Temporary Benefits Specialist to support the employee benefits team by managing and resolving benefit-related inquiries across Health & Welfare and Retirement programs. In this role, you will serve as a key resource for employees, ensuring accurate, timely case resolution while helping maintain a positive employee experience. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to the effective administration of benefit programs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage employee benefit cases related to Health & Welfare plans, including medical, dental, vision, and related programs.
• Support Retirement plan administration, including 401(k), pension, and deferred compensation programs.
• Investigate, track, and resolve benefit inquiries accurately and efficiently.
• Escalate complex issues when appropriate and partner with senior team members to ensure resolution.
• Interpret benefit plans and communicate plan information, processes, and next steps to employees.
• Maintain accurate documentation within case management and HR systems.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Legal, and other stakeholders to support benefit-related processes.
• Help reduce case backlogs and improve service levels during peak periods and special projects.
• Follow established procedures, service standards, and compliance requirements.
• Identify recurring issues and opportunities for process improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting employee benefits programs.
• Experience with Health & Welfare plans and/or Retirement plans.
• Experience managing a high volume of employee inquiries or benefit cases.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting both Health & Welfare and Retirement benefit programs.
• Knowledge of 401(k), pension, and deferred compensation plans.
• Experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or shared services environments.
• Experience using HRIS and case management platforms such as Dovetail or similar systems.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
