About the Opportunity

A well-established national insurance defense law firm is seeking a Georgia-licensed Associate Attorney to join its General Liability and Trucking Defense practice in Atlanta.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 3–6 years of litigation experience handling general liability, trucking accidents, cargo loss, automobile accidents, and premises liability claims.

The position offers hands-on experience with complex, high-exposure litigation matters, competitive compensation, mentorship, and long-term career advancement.

The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, excellent legal research and writing abilities, and experience handling cases in state and federal courts.

Key Responsibilities

• General Liability & Trucking Defense: Handle litigation involving commercial trucking accidents, cargo loss, automobile accidents, premises liability, and related general liability claims.
• Case Management: Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution, including case evaluations, strategy development, discovery, and trial preparation.
• Legal Research & Writing: Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Depositions & Discovery: Take and defend depositions, manage discovery, and coordinate with expert witnesses.
• Court Appearances: Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials in state and federal courts.
• Insurance Coverage: Analyze insurance policy terms and assist with coverage disputes when applicable.
• Client Communication: Advise clients regarding litigation risks, case strategy, potential exposure, and legal obligations.
• Litigation Strategy: Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective defense strategies and achieve favorable case resolutions.
• Trial Preparation: Assist with witness preparation, evidence review, and trial exhibits.
• Case Deadlines: Manage litigation deadlines and maintain accurate case documentation.

Qualifications

• Active Georgia Bar license in good standing required.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• 3–6 years of litigation experience.
• General Liability / Insurance Defense experience strongly preferred.
• Experience handling trucking accidents, cargo loss, automobile accidents, or premises liability highly desirable.
• Federal court litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Federal court admission or eligibility for admission preferred.
• Insurance Coverage litigation experience is a plus.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery documents.
• Ability to take and defend depositions.
• Strong courtroom advocacy and trial preparation skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and case management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Westlaw, and legal time-billing software.
