About the Opportunity

A well-established national insurance defense law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Property and Liability Coverage Practice Group.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with experience in insurance policy interpretation, coverage analysis, coverage opinions, and insurance coverage litigation .

The attorney will advise insurance carriers on complex property and general liability coverage matters, evaluate policy obligations and potential exposure, and represent insurers in coverage disputes, including declaratory judgment actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret commercial and residential property insurance policies and general liability policies.
• Draft detailed coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and coverage denial/declination letters .
• Advise insurance carriers regarding coverage obligations, exclusions, policy limits, and potential exposure.
• Handle insurance coverage litigation from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and legal memoranda.
• Represent insurance carriers in declaratory judgment actions and coverage disputes .
• Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
• Assist with trial preparation, litigation strategy, and case resolution.
• Research insurance coverage case law, statutes, and regulatory developments.
• Collaborate with claims adjusters, risk managers, insurance professionals, and attorneys.
• Provide regular case updates and recommendations to clients.
• Participate in training and client presentations regarding insurance coverage issues.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction required.
• Insurance Coverage experience strongly preferred.
• Experience analyzing property and general liability insurance policies highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of insurance coverage disputes and declaratory judgment actions.
• Experience drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and denial letters preferred.
• Litigation management and courtroom experience preferred.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and client relationship management abilities.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a legal team.
