Health Information Management Support Specialist

Location: Camp Hill, PA | Training in Hershey, PA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Pay: $18.00+

We are seeking detail-oriented, customer-focused professionals to join the Health Information Management (HIM) team supporting patient records, administrative operations, and a major electronic medical record transition initiative.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong customer service skills, administrative experience, and an interest in healthcare operations.

Responsibilities

• Professionally answer incoming calls from patients and other requestors
• Retrieve and respond to voicemail messages in a timely manner
• Verify patient identity and demographic information
• Obtain verbal authorizations in accordance with established procedures
• Navigate electronic medical record (EMR) systems to locate patient information
• Assist with Release of Information (ROI) requests and related workflows
• Support radiology image-sharing requests
• Accurately document calls, requests, authorizations, and completed work
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
• Assist with additional medical records and administrative tasks as needed
• Support Health Information Management operations during a major EMR transition

Qualifications
Required

• Strong customer service and telephone communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred

• Experience in Health Information Management (HIM)
• Medical records experience
• Release of Information (ROI) experience
• Patient registration or patient access experience
• Medical office or healthcare administrative experience
• Healthcare customer service experience
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations
• Experience using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic

Work Environment

• Fully onsite position
• Standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Occasional overtime or Saturday coverage may be available for select positions
• Collaborative healthcare environment supporting patients, providers, and hospital operations

Training & Work Locations

All new hires will complete training in Hershey, PA. Training is expected to last approximately 2-4 weeks depending on individual learning pace.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Hershey, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
