Shipping and Receiving Clerk

This role oversees the complete shipping and receiving process by verifying and recording all incoming and outgoing shipments in a large, clean manufacturing environment. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk prepares and schedules items for shipment, ensures documentation accuracy, and supports smooth material flow throughout the warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Verify and keep accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments in accordance with established procedures.
• Prepare and schedule items for shipment, ensuring all materials are properly packaged and ready for transport.
• Compare identifying information on incoming and outgoing shipments to bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records, including counts, weights, and measurements, to confirm accuracy.
• Determine appropriate methods of shipment by applying knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons using stencil equipment.
• Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or preassemble items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding to prevent damage during transit.
• Plan and monitor daily shipments to minimize documentation discrepancies and ensure compliance with shipping requirements.
• Ensure on-time shipment and on-time documentation by coordinating bookings, following up on schedules, and monitoring shipments from point of origin to point of destination.
• Receive incoming orders of materials, equipment, and supplies and accurately enter related information into the computer system using data entry tools.
• Verify information on bills of lading, invoices, and orders against actual shipments to confirm completeness and correctness.
• Identify, document, and keep records of shortages and damages found in shipments and work with appropriate parties to resolve issues.
• Operate forklift trucks and pallet jacks safely to move materials within the warehouse and shipping/receiving areas.
• Support inventory control activities by handling, packaging, and organizing materials in accordance with company standards.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in shipping and receiving or a closely related warehouse role.
• Proficiency in shipping and receiving processes, including preparation, packaging, and documentation of shipments.
• Ability to determine methods of shipment using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Experience comparing shipping documentation such as bills of lading, invoices, and orders with physical shipments, including verifying counts, weights, and measurements.
• Ability to perform accurate data entry into computer systems for incoming and outgoing materials.
• Skill in operating forklift trucks safely in a warehouse environment.
• Skill in operating pallet jacks to move materials and products.
• Experience with packaging, packing, and material handling in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
• High School Diploma (HS Diploma) required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using stencil equipment to apply shipping information to cartons.
• Familiarity with assembling wooden or cardboard containers and using spacers, fillers, and protective padding for secure packaging.
• Ability to plan and monitor daily shipments to reduce documentation discrepancies and improve process accuracy.
• Experience monitoring shipments from origin to destination and coordinating with carriers or logistics partners.
• Strong attention to detail when verifying documentation and identifying shortages or damages.
• Comfort working with inventory, packaging, and general material handling tasks in a high-volume environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very large, clean manufacturing environment that produces interior components for aircraft, including galleys, closets, lavatories, floor panels, class dividers, and sidewalls. You will work in a warehouse and production setting that uses forklifts, pallet jacks, and standard packaging and material handling equipment. The facility emphasizes organization, safety, and cleanliness, providing a professional industrial atmosphere with access to a company gym on-site.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
