Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care to surgical patients during the immediate preoperative and postoperative phases in a PACU setting. Ensures patient stabilization, monitors vital signs, and manages emergent situations to promote recovery and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Assess post-anesthesia patients' physical status and identify signs of distress or complications.
• Manage airway, pain, bleeding, and nausea, ensuring optimal patient comfort and safety.
• Administer medications and perform intravenous therapy, including blood products and pre-established protocols.
• Monitor hemodynamic parameters and interpret ECG rhythms during patient recovery.
• Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies, providing appropriate interventions.
• Follow facility procedures, including chain of command and documentation requirements.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current RN license in the practicing state.
• Completed an Associate Degree or higher in Nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years recent experience in PACU or critical care settings.
• Obtain and maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
• Demonstrate competency in physical assessment, airway management, and emergency response.
