SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

Job Details Salary Range : $140.00 - $165.00 Description SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties of this position include but are not limited to: The substitute teacher needs to follow the regular lesson plans and instructions of the absent teacher. The substitute teacher maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the assigned school and classroom. Prepares and submits a summary of their work. Informs the regular teacher of situations or problems encountered. Adheres to school and administrative procedures. Implements effective pupil handling. Maintains high standards of education. Provides guidance and advice to students. Shows interest in students’ progress. Encourages critical-thinking, analytical and creativity skills. Works with other teachers, respects personal privacy and maintains confidentiality regarding their students. Maintains a professional appearance as an example for students. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Monitors behavior of students and reports to the Principal any unusual issues or problems. Reports evidence of suspected child abuse to authorities. Supervises non-classroom activities when assigned, and does not leave students unsupervised. When performing duties of a Long Term Substitute Teacher: The duties and responsibilities noted above will be followed as well as, make provisions to be available to students and parents for educational-related purposes beyond the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. Long term substitute teachers attend staff meetings, serve on staff committees, and perform duties as assigned by the Principal or Executive Director. School policies will be followed at all times.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

Education Required: An Associate’s Degree, 60 credit hours, from an accredited college or university in Education; (A Bachelor’s degree is preferred). Licenses/Certifications Required : Substitute Teaching License or Teaching License issued by Nevada Dept. of Education is REQUIRED. To download a licensure application go to: .
