Duluth, MinnesotaSurface Transportation – Highway Design /Full Time (40) /HybridAs a Senior Project Manager / PE, you will lead projects for designing complex, safe, and efficient transportation infrastructure systems. You will work with clients to provide a full complement of services, including sustainable transportation planning, geometric layouts, multimodal planning, preliminary engineering and final design. We take a “Seller-Doer” approach to business development. You will collaborate with the Highway Group Manager and the Vice President of Surface Transportation Engineering to further advance our services and enhance our reputation by contributing to the development of marketing plans, cultivating / maintaining relations with clients and agency representatives, tracking prospective opportunities, developing proposals, and delivering client presentations. Flexible work arrangement (3 days in office / 2 days WFH)ResponsibilitiesEstablish work plans and staffing for project phasesCoordinate activities of engineers, technicians, and production staffPrepare reports, specifications, and communicationsCollaborate with Surface Transportation leadership to track prospective business opportunities and cross-sell multi-disciplined consulting services and contributing to the creation of annual business/market development plansConduct client and internal meetings, and reviews with governing agenciesSupervise design and technical developmentEnsure project goals are met within time and budget constraintsDeliver profitable projects efficientlyPrepare design calculations and plans for a variety of highway design projectsCollaborate within a multi-disciplinary environment of engineers, designers, and techniciansMentor and contribute to the development of less experienced professionals on your teamTravel may be required for client meetingsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in transportation or highway designRegistered as a Professional Engineer in the State of MinnesotaMinimum of 10 years of highway design and plan development or related transportation experienceMinimum of 3 years of experience managing multi-disciplined projects; strong working knowledge of the project development process including coordination with other disciplines during design and constructionPrevious business development experience demonstrated by a track record of securing new project opportunitiesStrong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to write descriptive and technically accurate proposals, specifications, and reports; Ability to participate in, facilitate, or lead project team meetingsStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook)Experience working with MicroStation and/or OpenRoadsMust possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving recordPreferred QualificationsExperience collaborating with a multi-disciplined team of highway design, traffic, bridge (structural), and water resources engineering professionalsDesire or demonstrated ability to leverage your technical knowledge to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced engineering professionalsWorking knowledge of MNDOT design and plan standardsProfessional registration in 2 or more states$108,000 - $151,000 a yearThe listed salary range reflects base pay for candidates with 12-20 years of related experience.
