DESCRIPTION:
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Lead Inventory Coordinator, where you will coordinate daily inventory operations while supporting facilities maintenance activities. In this role, you will oversee inventory processes, tool crib operations, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) inventory. You will serve as the site subject-matter expert for inventory management, collaborating with facilities personnel, maintenance technicians, vendors, and internal teams to ensure efficient operations, inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate daily workflow and provide guidance to team members supporting inventory and material management operations.

• Manage tool crib and MRO inventory operations while maintaining accurate inventory records.

• Issue tools, equipment, parts, consumables, and maintenance materials while maintaining accurate transaction documentation.

• Receive, inspect, label, stock, and organize incoming MRO inventory, including HVAC components, electrical supplies, plumbing components, mechanical parts, fasteners, lubricants, and other maintenance materials.

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to ensure critical spare parts and maintenance supplies are available.

• Perform cycle counts, physical inventories, reconciliations, and inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy.

• Maintain inventory records using SAP, ERP, CMMS, or other inventory management systems.

• Organize and maintain storage locations to ensure materials, tools, and equipment are properly labeled, secured, and easily accessible.

• Track tool calibration, preventive maintenance schedules, warranty information, and repair history for company-owned equipment.

• Inspect tools and equipment for damage or excessive wear and coordinate repair, replacement, or disposal when necessary.

• Assemble and stage tools, parts, and materials for preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, shutdowns, and special projects.

• Support urgent maintenance requests by locating and issuing critical replacement parts in a timely manner.

• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding deliveries, returns, backorders, warranty replacements, and special orders.

• Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes, standardize materials, reduce operating costs, and eliminate obsolete inventory.

• Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) supporting inventory management and material control.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, GxP requirements, and quality procedures.

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe storage areas in accordance with 5S and company housekeeping standards.

• Collaborate daily with maintenance technicians, planners, supervisors, purchasing teams, and customers to ensure materials are available to support operations.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, tool accountability, and customer satisfaction.

• Serve as the primary liaison between customers and Thermo Fisher Scientific for inventory-related activities and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Four years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, tool crib operations, facilities support, or material management.

• Experience working in a GxP environment.

• Demonstrated leadership or team coordination experience.

• Experience supporting manufacturing, pharmaceutical, healthcare, industrial, or facility maintenance operations. ​

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Proficiency with SAP, ERP, CMMS, or inventory management systems.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.

• Knowledge of inventory control principles, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and inventory optimization.

• Working knowledge of maintenance tools and MRO inventory.

• Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical maintenance components.

• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and work order processes.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety procedures, cGMP standards, and quality control practices.

• IATA/DOT Hazardous Goods certification or the ability to obtain certification within three to six months.

• Valid driver's license.

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Ability to work in industrial, maintenance, cold storage, and regulated environments as needed.

• Ability to work flexible hours when business needs require.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

• Facilities maintenance and industrial environments.

• Frequent interaction with maintenance technicians, vendors, customers, and internal support teams.

• Exposure to maintenance equipment and building systems while following established safety procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $21.76–$32.63.
