Physician Assistant — Transplant Nephrology (No Nights)

Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Don't miss this opportunity to join WashU's Nephrology Transplant team! Our team consists of 3 APPs in the outpatient setting and 1 APP in the inpatient setting. In outpatient, the APP sees their patients independently. For inpatient, the APP collaborates with Nephrology and Transplant Fellows. They will evaluate patients for kidney and pancreas transplant as well as manage immunosuppressant medication and post-transplant care. The APP will have 3 months of inpatient service and 9 months outpatient. When outpatient, the APP will do 6 to 7 clinics per week with 3 half days of no clinical duties. The APP is expected to see 7 to 8 patients in the post-transplant clinic and 5 patients in pre-transplant clinic. No nights or weekends! APPs are eligible for performance bonuses after one year of employment Provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician; conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels patients; may, in some instances, prescribe medication. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Performs physical assessments/examinations. Assesses and counsels patients and obtains medical histories. Monitors patient's adherence to protocols. Coordinates screening for research studies. Collects and records data per research requirements and guidelines. Develops and implements adherence plans used with protocols. Bills for professional services as permitted by the collaborative practice agreement. Interprets diagnostic tests results for deviations from normal. Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram and laboratory test. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management. Provides physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objective, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
