Maintenance Supervisor

Maintenance SupervisorAssist the Director of Maintenance in managing the district's maintenance operations. Maintain school plant ensuring it is in excellent operating condition so that full educational use may be made at all times. Assist with overseeing that campus personnel are providing a quality and timely service to our schools. Provide a physical environment that is functional, safe, clean, and attractive.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Building Maintenance and RepairEnsure that district facilities are functional, safe, clean, and well maintained. This position is expected to walk campuses with the purpose of making observations on the overall cleanliness and maintenance. Any noticeable deficiency shall be documented as a work order to be addressed by the appropriate personnel.Ensure that work orders are processed and executed in a timely manner. This may include daily visits to campuses to review work orders and advise Maintenance Staff on work order completion.Policy, Reports, and LawEnsure compliance with federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required including timekeeping records.Budget and InventoryAssist the Maintenance Director in direct inventory and stock control program for equipment and supplies.Assist the Maintenance Director with purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.Personnel ManagementAssist in the selection of, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff and make recommendations relative to assisgnment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.Assist the Maintenance Director with preparation, review, and revision of maintenance department job descriptions.SafetyMaintain safety standards in conformance with federal, state, and insurance regulations and district requirements and develop a program of preventive safety. Report any unsafe condition immediately to the Director of Maintenance. Report any on-the-job injuries immediately and assist all personnel with required paperwork regarding Workman's Comp protocols.Ensure that equipment is maintained in optimum operating condition.OtherParticipate in development of the district's disaster plan and be prepared to take an active role in responding to emergencies as needed.Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of skilled craftsmen, campus coordinators and support staff assigned to maintenance department.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; district vehiclePosture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; may work in tiring and uncomfortable positionsMotion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding; regular grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent drivingLifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (1544 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over)Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travelMental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
