Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a vital educational role providing specialized support to students with visual impairments in a school-based contract position near Habersham, GA. This opportunity is designed for professionals dedicated to empowering learners with visual challenges, focused on delivering individualized instruction and collaborating within school teams to foster student progress.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure/certification
- Current Georgia Educator Certificate
- Previous experience in school-based settings, ideally supporting visually impaired students
- Familiarity with Braille and the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) strongly preferred
- ASD/severe classroom or similar experience is a plus
- Reliable transportation for in-person roles preferred; VOCO (virtual) candidates considered
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct TVI educational services aligned with student IEP goals
- Actively participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to devise and assess individualized learning plans
- Provide Braille instruction and support students in the use of assistive technology (if open to Brailling, up to 20 hours/week)
- Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and contribute to ongoing evaluations
- Assist with Medicaid billing documentation, as required
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment tailored to student strengths and needs
This role is part time, with flexible scheduling available based on your expertise in Braille and availability (ranging from approximately 7–20 hours per week). The contract runs from July 31, 2026, through June 3, 2027. Applicants will have the flexibility of interviewing virtually.
