Advanced Practice Provider Lead- Surgical Assist

Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider Lead- Surgical Assist Department: James | Inpatient Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Scope of Position The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Lead works with APP and Division leadership and functions in liaison, oversight, and mentoring roles for other advanced practice providers. Administrative and reporting responsibilities are per department expectations. The APP Lead interacts with the division workforce on issues related to advanced practice providers, mentors advanced practice providers, and is the designated expert for advanced practice in the division. The APP Lead provides clinical and day‑to‑day leadership and mentoring in matters related to advanced practice and the professional development of APRNs or PAs for serving as the liaison between the APRN/PAs and upper‑level advanced practice management (APP Manager and APP Director). The APP Lead is responsible for providing health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The APP collaborates with physician(s) and other clinicians in providing a full scope of patient care. The focus is on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. The APP performs medical services specifically authorized and directed by the credentialing body and the certifying organization through which the APP holds licensure. Position Summary The APP Lead provides health care services to patients working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Healthcare services provided include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education, counseling of individuals and families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio Graduate of an APRN program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing Master of Science Degree in Nursing 2 years of APP experience required. 2-4 years of surgical experience preferred. Alternative Qualifications Masters Prepared; Graduate of a PA-C program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination recognized by the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA-C 2 years of APP experience required. 2-4 years of surgical experience preferred.
