Registered Nurse PCU

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides skilled nursing care to patients requiring intermediate or specialized care. The RN is responsible for patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment. The nurse will float between units as needed and maintain patient ratios of 1:4. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to PCU patients, including assessment, monitoring, and treatment.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic electronic health records.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Float between units as assigned to meet patient care needs.
• Ensure compliance with BLS and ACLS protocols.
• Maintain patient safety and infection control standards.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in hospital or acute care settings preferred.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
• Proficiency in clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system preferred.
• Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:4 in a PCU setting.

• Experience in Progressive Care, Medical-Surgical, ICU, or similar units.
• Strong interdisciplinary team collaboration skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to floating between different hospital units.

• No on-call responsibilities required.
• Every other weekend work is required.
• Block scheduling is utilized.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio typically maintained at 1:4.
• Work environment is a short-term acute care hospital and Level III Trauma Center.

• Block schedules with weekend shifts every other weekend.
• Shift assignments may include floating between units as needed.
