About Recreation Science

Recreation Science installs commercial playground equipment, shade structures, and related site improvements throughout Northern California.

Our crews perform playground and shade structure installation, concrete work, excavation, grading, and general site construction. We are looking for dependable people who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in what they build, and work well as part of a team.

Position Overview

This position works as part of a field crew installing commercial playground equipment, steel and fabric shade structures, and related site improvements.

The work is performed primarily outdoors and varies from project to project. Typical work includes construction layout, equipment assembly, excavation, concrete work, material handling, and jobsite cleanup.

Previous construction experience is preferred, but we are willing to train dependable applicants who are mechanically inclined and ready to work.

Responsibilities

• Install and assemble commercial playground equipment
• Install steel and fabric shade structures
• Read and follow project plans and manufacturer instructions
• Assist with excavation, grading, and site preparation
• Assist with concrete forming, placement, and cleanup
• Load, unload, and organize tools and construction materials
• Use hand tools and power tools
• Maintain clean and organized jobsites
• Work professionally with coworkers, customers, contractors, and other trades

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Reliable personal transportation
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew
• Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds
• Physically able to perform continuous construction labor throughout the workday, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to travel for out-of-town and overnight projects
• Availability for overtime and occasional weekend work when needed
• Ability to pass frequent background checks and work around children

Experience with playground installation, shade structures, steel assembly, concrete, excavation, landscaping, or general construction is helpful but not required.

Schedule and Travel

Typical work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. , although hours may vary based on project requirements.

Out-of-town and overnight work is part of the position. Recreation Science provides lodging and a food per diem for qualifying overnight projects. Certain projects may also qualify for paid drive time under company policy.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting pay of $35.69 per hour
