A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher to provide in-person support in a self-contained classroom serving K-2 students with significant disabilities. This contract assignment covers a leave of absence, beginning August 11 and expected to run through September 23, with the potential to extend further. You’ll work in a collaborative environment alongside paraprofessionals, impacting the lives of four young learners as they participate in both core classes within their specialized classroom and select activities in general education settings.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (required)
- Prior experience teaching or supporting students with significant disabilities, especially at the elementary (K-2) level
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with paraprofessionals and general education teachers
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet multi-needs in a small-group, self-contained setting
- Passion for fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom community
Responsibilities:
- Instruct and guide a class of four students in a self-contained special education setting
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to address each student’s IEP goals
- Collaborate closely with classroom paraprofessionals and general education staff
- Create a structured, positive environment facilitating both academic and social development
- Maintain accurate records, document progress, and communicate regularly with families and support teams
