HR Generalist

Job Title: HR Generalist Location: Chelsea, MA, 02150 Duration: 3-Month Contract Job Summary We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support employee onboarding, leave administration, HR compliance, personnel records management, and employee relations activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a large organization, strong knowledge of federal and state leave laws, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office applications. Key Responsibilities Process employee onboarding documentation and coordinate submissions with Payroll, Benefits, Retirement, and Union representatives. Administer and track employee leave programs, including FMLA, PFML, Workers' Compensation, Medical Leave, and other protected leave requests. Monitor employee leave status, return-to-work activities, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation within HRIS systems and databases. Research and analyze personnel information to support HR operations, audits, reporting, and special projects. Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, leave policies, HR procedures, and personnel matters. Draft HR correspondence, employee communications, forms, letters, reports, and memorandums. Ensure compliance with company policies, confidentiality standards, collective bargaining agreements, and employment regulations. Collaborate with managers, employees, benefits providers, payroll teams, and external agencies. Assist with employee relations, HR compliance initiatives, policy administration, and workforce support activities. Support HR reporting, data analysis, records management, and process improvement initiatives. Perform additional HR duties as assigned. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience in Human Resources, HR Generalist, HR Operations, Employee Relations, Benefits Administration, or Leave Administration. Knowledge of FMLA, PFML, Workers' Compensation, ADA, and other employment-related regulations. Experience managing employee onboarding, personnel records, and HR compliance activities. Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and HRIS systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a unionized environment. Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and labor relations. Understanding of state and federal benefits programs. Experience with compensation administration and salary-setting processes. HR Certification preferred (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent).
