Operations Support Specialist

603 Big Bend Rd, Apollo Beach , Florida 33572 , United States The Operations Support Specialist is a part of the operations team and is responsible for assisting the Superintendent as directed during the operations of discharge, load, and departure of assigned transportation, guaranteeing quality, safety, and efficiency in accordance with relevant operational and technical parameters. In addition, the Operations Support Specialist is responsible for assisting the Shop Foreman in his duties as determined by the Operations Manager. Work closely with terminal staff while handling cargo as directed safely and in a manner to complete tasks according to plans. Ensure that all required personnel are wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as safety vests, safety toe boots, safety glasses, and protective hard hats when applicable, and report any violations to the Superintendent. May be required to assist in the investigation and reporting of damages and liabilities to the appropriate management and authorities. Supports, monitors, and troubleshoots, when necessary, ensuring data is accurate and informs terminal staff of any discrepancies. Reports problems and issues to the appropriate Manager of the operation. Must understand and adhere to safety procedures while implementing plans to address safety hazards. Assists the Superintendent and Shop Foreman to assure proper communication between all parties, vessels, customers, agents, and labor, as directed. Reports any deviation from company policies and procedures to the appropriate manager. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 2 years’ experience operating powered industrial truck-type equipment. Basic knowledge or principles of terminal operations. Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations. Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stability are strongly desired. Requires problem-solving skills to respond quickly and effectively to operational issues. Requires the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment and be available to work varied hours and days. Supervisory Responsibilities: No Work environment: Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings, and nights. Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions, and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise. The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment. The ability to drive 50%. The ability to operate various types of equipment.
