Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical / Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Must have 2 years of surgical unit experience License: NC or Compact license pending OK for submittal Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: - Interpretation of dysrhythmias - Management of dysrhythmias - Use of Rapid Response Teams - Blood Product Administration - Central line care and management - Peripheral line care and management - Surgical drains - Nasal Cannula - Non-invasive airway management - Isolation Precautions - Wound Care / Wound Vac Description: This position is responsible for providing nursing care in an inpatient surgical unit. Registered Nurses will work with a diverse patient population, including those who have undergone surgery or experienced trauma. The patient diagnoses treated on this unit may include cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, and various other conditions. Nurses will be expected to perform a wide range of surgical procedures, such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and hernia repair. The unit also manages patients with various acute conditions, including trauma from motor vehicle accidents, gunshots, and falls. Ratios for patients are 1:6. Registered Nurses on this unit will utilize equipment such as wound vacs, chest tubes, and various drain systems. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams, including physical therapy and respiratory services. All nursing staff must possess a teamwork approach and adhere to professional behavior expectations in interactions with colleagues and patients. The position requires flexibility in assignments, including floating to different units as needed. All requests for time off must be pre-approved.
