Java AI Lead Software Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus 5+ years of applied experience
• Practical, hands-on background in system design, application development, testing, and operational reliability
• Proven experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with clear standards for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations
• Ability to coach engineers on safe and compliant adoption of AI-enabled practices
• Strong command of automation and continuous delivery methods
• Proficiency across the full Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced knowledge of agile practices, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Deep familiarity with the financial services industry and its IT systems
• Strong hands-on experience building and supporting Java services and REST/OpenAPI APIs
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Splunk, CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
• Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and production support in distributed systems
• Practical experience with Cassandra, including data modeling, reliability, and operational patterns
• Practical experience with Kafka, including producer/consumer patterns, delivery semantics, and monitoring
• Proven experience delivering and operating applications in Private Cloud (GAIA) and/or AWS environments, with secure configuration, resilience, and production readiness

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions using creative approaches to solve complex technical problems
• Build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others
• Promote enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
• Apply Software Development Life Cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase automation value
• Identify and reduce recurring issues through remediation automation to strengthen application stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credibility, and fit within existing systems
• Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to raise awareness of emerging technologies
• Contribute to a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
• Own end-to-end DevOps execution for the teams SDLC, including Jenkins and Spinnaker pipelines, release practices, environment promotion, and automated quality gates
• Define and enforce a comprehensive testing strategy across the stack, including unit, contract, component, functional, performance, and resilience testing
• Lead the design and implementation of Java-based microservices and back-end APIs, ensuring scalability, resiliency, and secure-by-default patterns
