Learn more at Position Information Reporting To: Operations Manager Location: Torrance, CA Travel Requirements: None FLSA Status: Exempt; Salary Employment Category: Full Time - Regular Pay Range: $75,000 to $80,000 annual Responsibilities Lead and support the sanitation team to ensure all cleaning and sanitation tasks are completed on schedule. Directly monitor sanitation workers and schedule sanitation activities according to the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS). Drive the engagement, development, and performance of all team members. Direct the SSOP program and master sanitation program; verify compliance, review and maintain all documentation. Coordinate ongoing training and ensure the sanitation crew possesses active knowledge of all sanitation procedures. Execute and support CIP, COP, and external sanitation activities per approved procedures. Ensure safe and correct use of cleaning/sanitation chemicals and tools. Work with the Production Manager to identify resource needs. Control the Sanitation Department budgets and develop cost‑saving ideas. Participate in selection, discipline, evaluation, and development of department members. Order required supplies for sanitation processes. Assist the Quality Assurance Department with inspection and testing activities. Collaborate with QA, Production, and Maintenance staff to resolve food safety and quality issues. Maintain product quality through good manufacturing practices and adherence to food safety controls. Monitor and document quality measures using analytical tools. Demonstrate safety as a core value and coach others to follow safety procedures. Act as a safety change agent, including CPR/First Aid certification and engagement in safety initiatives. Perform additional duties as needed to support business objectives. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Onboard and train sanitation employees. Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and support. Provide leadership during the 3rd shift and troubleshoot minor equipment issues. Support production teams to ensure lines are ready after sanitation. Communicate operational status to production and leadership teams. Assist in monitoring production metrics and identify bottlenecks. Manage environmental program and address wastewater concerns. Write and update SOPs according to the Controlled Documents Policy. Ensure approval of sanitation chemicals and tools. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum: High school diploma or GED required. Three or more years of experience in manufacturing, food production, or sanitation. Experience leading or training teams. Preferred: Familiarity with Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and sanitation documentation systems. Exposure to food safety programs such as GMPs, SQF, or FDA‑regulated environments. Experience supporting pre‑op inspections or sanitation verifications. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook). Physical Demands Lift or carry up to 50 lbs occasionally. Use hand and fingers for extended periods. Use three points of contact when climbing or descending stairs. Stooping, bending knees, and/or crouching repetitively. Standing and walking for extended periods. Work in environmental exposure including cold, noisy, wet, or humid conditions of 34°F or below. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, and/or caustic chemicals. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and equipment such as forklifts. Hours & Workdays 3rd Shift – Monday through Saturday from 7:00 pm to 3:30 am; 6‑day workweek schedule. Weekends, overtime, holidays, and rotating shifts may be mandatory based on business needs.
