Commercial Loan Assistant

The Commercial Loan Assistant provides administrative and operational support to Commercial Loan Officers and lending staff throughout the loan process. This role helps ensure loan documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with bank policies while delivering exceptional service to both customers and internal partners. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting a positive customer experience.

Essential Duties And Accountabilities

Prepare, obtain, and assemble documentation for commercial, consumer, and real estate loans in accordance with underwriting guidelines and established policies. Review loan files for accuracy and completeness, ensuring all required signatures, dates, legal descriptions, and supporting documentation are obtained prior to closing. Enter and maintain loan information within the bank's lending systems and databases.

Respond to customer and internal inquiries regarding loan status, documentation requirements, and loan processing. Research and gather information necessary to facilitate loan closings and ongoing loan administration. Monitor and resolve loan exceptions, documentation deficiencies, and follow-up items for lending staff.

Perform notary services for loan documents and other bank-related documents as authorized and commissioned. Provide administrative and clerical support to Commercial Loan Officers and lending staff to promote efficient loan operations.

Perform other duties as assigned or as needed. Comply with all applicable banking regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act requirements and information security standards.

Core Qualifications, Education And Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.

Two to three years of related banking, lending, loan operations, or administrative support experience required.

Working knowledge of financial institution products and services.

Familiarity with commercial, consumer, and real estate lending terminology and loan documentation.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Position Requirements

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.

Ability to learn and utilize lending and document preparation software.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Must obtain and maintain a Notary Public commission or currently hold an active commission, if required.
