About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years preferred License: Active state nursing license or compact license required prior to start Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred Must-Have: - Epic experience - Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry experience - Ability to manage insulin and respond rapidly in emergencies Description: The position is for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse working 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The staffing ratios are typically 1 nurse to 6-7 patients, with potential for flexing to 1:7 in case of unplanned absences. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. On-call duty may be required in case of low census. Travelers may need to float between like units based on facility needs. Experience is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years being ideal. First-time travelers are accepted. BLS certification is mandatory, while ACLS and NIHSS are preferred. Candidates must have skills in managing ports, administering blood products, and handling telemetry monitoring. The unit supports a variety of medical surgical diagnoses and provides telemetry monitoring. Staffing teams include IV Teams, Physical Therapy, and other support services. All employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season. Travelers should be aware of operational adjustments required during this season.
