Immediate Report: Director of Operations Job Supervision Duty: None About Us: Fathers’ UpLift is the country's first mental health and substance abuse treatment facility for fathers and families, helping fathers become and remain emotionally stable for their children. Fathers' UpLift uses peer coaching, father-child therapy, training, youth programs, and support for incarcerated and recently released fathers to honor and rehabilitate the relationship between thousands of fathers and families in the Boston area. In their outpatient clinic, over 800 fathers and families receive mental health services from clinicians trained in trauma who reflect the population being served. Outside of the clinic, Fathers' UpLift partners with community centers, substance abuse programs, and other agencies to build a holistic approach to helping fathers rebuild their lives and their relationship with their families. Clinical Service Department Our clinical team consists of experienced clinicians who specialize in trauma, anger management, group counseling, individual counseling, and child & family counseling. Our clinicians provide ongoing therapeutic support to fathers and their children. Whether they are helping fathers strengthen their communication skills, identifying resources, and managing conflict, our clinicians are committed to assisting fathers to remain emotionally and physically present for themselves and their children. General Summary The following list of duties is intended only to describe the various types of work that may be performed and the level of the assignment's technical complexity and is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties. Provides direct and indirect mental health services in the outpatient clinic and with various community agencies and groups; functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team for the handling of scheduled and unscheduled clients; performs an initial client intake and assessment and develops and carries out treatment plans and makes referrals for a wide range of assigned child and adult clients, including case management. Complete required Wellness Check-in and Re-Evaluations. Provides individual, group, and family therapy and crisis intervention to those experiencing life crises and severe mental disorders; Accepts "on duty" assignments for emergency screening and follow up on unscheduled clients; Evaluates and signs commitments for clients requiring hospitalization; provides evaluation and referral for court defendants; Attends case conferences to review client cases and resolve difficult therapeutic problems; Maintains detailed client records and prepares a variety of reports for review; Consults with and serves as a liaison with community agencies and other mental health programs and services to evaluate community health and social services topics and issues; Essential Responsibilities of The Participant Knowledge & Characteristics Principles, practices, and methods of community mental health treatment including interviewing, assessment, marriage, family, child, and group counseling and crisis intervention; Adult and child psychology, including development and psychopathology; Knowledge of substance use and mental health. Applicable city, state, and federal guidelines and laws affecting mental health treatment, services, and reporting procedures; Characteristics and types of mental and emotional illness; Principles of psychological growth and development; Community mental health resources and services and other health, financial, social, recreational cultural, housing, and legal advocacy services. Skill in: Assessing and evaluating client mental health status, developing effective treatment plans, and making appropriate referrals; Providing ongoing therapeutic support and counseling for individuals, groups, and families; Coordinating treatment with other community agencies and services; Performing crisis intervention as necessary; Providing case management services to the chronically mentally ill; Preparing complete and detailed documentation of client visits and other required reports; Maintaining organized and accurate records conferences and charting audits and approval of client treatment plans; Conducting mental health educational programs and workshops; Identifying the cultural problems affecting mental health practices; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other clinicians, city staff, Child Welfare staff, community health or other referral agencies, and the public. Fee for Service Clinicians Maintain a flexible schedule. Maintain at minimum a caseload of 5 fathers and/or their families.
