The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in supporting patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff. This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare policies and demonstrates the skills necessary to provide care across all age groups, from newborns to the elderly.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Deliver patient care as outlined by unit competencies, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain compliance with privacy and security regulations related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Foster effective communication and professional relationships with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care and unit operations.

Education and Experience:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) within the relevant state or equivalent experience such as early nursing school coursework.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, instrument care, EKG, and phlebotomy.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification (ASCP).

Skills and Abilities:

• Basic to moderate computer proficiency, especially for telesitter monitoring.
• Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

Physical Requirements: This role involves very heavy work, occasionally lifting over 100 lbs and frequently standing or walking for 75-100% of the shift. Accommodations may be considered.
