Litigation Legal Assistant
An established law firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their Chicago office. This role supports a busy insurance defense team in a collaborative, well-supported environment with strong leadership and long-tenured staff.
The role offers a hybrid schedule of three days onsite and two days remote (core in-office days are Tuesday and Wednesday, plus one additional consistent day). The salary range for this position is $75k-$100k, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate has 5-10 years of litigation experience in a mid to large law firm and is comfortable supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment. This role is heavily focused on billing (approximately 80% of the position), so experience with time entry, pre-bill review, and client invoicing is important. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.
Skills required and Job Duties include the following:
Job Duties:

• Prepare and edit legal documents, including pleadings and correspondence
• Manage time entry and assist with pre-bill review and client billing processes
• Coordinate with billing teams and communicate with clients regarding invoices
• Maintain organized electronic and physical case files
• Assist with document preparation for court filings
• Handle scheduling, travel arrangements, and expense processing
• Serve as a professional point of contact for clients and internal team members
• Manage administrative tasks including correspondence, mailings, and file maintenance
• Support multiple attorneys with day-to-day litigation needs
  Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of litigation legal assistant experience in a law firm setting
  • Strong experience with billing, including time entry and invoice preparation
  • Working knowledge of state and federal court procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with legal software such as iManage, Intapp, or similar is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work product
