Ambulatory Care Nurse-Per Diem-Bethpage Multi Specialty Practice GI Experience Preferred Location: Bethpage, NY NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center offering inpatient and outpatient services. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Ambulatory Care Nurse-Per Diem-Bethpage Multi Specialty Practice GI Experience Preferred. The Ambulatory Care Nurse will support the coordination, integration, communication, implementation and evaluation of nursing practice and clinical policies and procedures. The role includes participating in site and organizational quality and performance improvement activities, collecting patient healthcare data using appropriate assessment techniques, and collaborating with licensed providers to develop patient-centered care plans that prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes. The Ambulatory Care Nurse provides comprehensive care in support of patients through administration of treatments and medications, symptom relief including health teaching and counseling, disease prevention guidance, rehabilitation, public health care, and health counseling. Job Responsibilities Performs physical examinations and diagnostic tests Collects patient health history Records information in electronic health record Provides information, counsel, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans as directed Administers medications (including vaccination, IV therapy, oxygen administration), provides comprehensive wound care, and performs phone and in-person patient triage for clinical concerns Assesses and monitors patient responses to various treatments, procedures, and anesthesia Assesses and interprets patient information, making treatment decisions as appropriate Consults with clinical supervisors and licensed providers to determine best treatment plans for patients Directs, supervises, and delegates to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants and technicians as needed to support patient flow and efficiency Performs other duties as needed Clinical Responsibilities Supports the coordination, integration, communication, implementation and performance evaluation of nursing practice and clinical policies and procedures Ensures clinical compliance with Patient Safety initiatives and reporting Supports key quality initiatives (e.g., MIPS, Care gap management) to impact clinical outcome measures Demonstrates knowledge of the NYULH Service Standards and incorporates into responsibilities Participates in activities related to NYULH clinical standards and regulations Supports the missions, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of NYULH, Departments of Nursing, and FGP Participates in coordination of on-site activities to provide patient care in a healing, humane and caring environment Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and promotes collegial relationships Serves as a support and resource for nursing, other clinical staff and providers Participates in clinical inquiry and activities to foster evidence-based practice Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with NYSED regulations Provides emergency care as needed per organizational policy Delivers care as a respectful member of the health care team Delegates and oversees nursing interventions to the health care team as appropriate Professional Engages in self-assessment and professional development Maintains current nursing knowledge and competence Applies new knowledge related to medical treatment and technology Promotes professional development in clinical practice Maintains awareness of patient-centered, evidence-based practice Acts as a mentor to peers Identifies and reports professional misconduct appropriately Implementation / Provision of Care: Executes medical regimens as prescribed by licensed providers Assesses patients and plans comprehensive care Coordinates care with other health care providers Provides direct care services including assessment, treatment, education, and health counseling Task/Procedure Collects and documents patient clinical history and assessment data Performs onsite testing (POC labs, EKG, phlebotomy, spirometry, etc.) Performs nursing treatments in accordance with the plan of care and scope of practice Performs procedures as needed and assists with minor and major procedures Administers medications and manages IV therapy and dressings Starts and maintains IV lines and manages complications Communication and Message Management Manages clinical in-baskets and timely encounter closures Receives and communicates critical lab values Performs triage and provides clinical advice within RN scope Performs care/case management for defined populations Health Promotion & Education Identifies deviations from health and advocates for appropriate actions Collects and analyzes patient healthcare data to determine health status Educates patients and families to promote healthy adjustment Develops patient-centered plans of care and evaluates progress Serves as a faculty practice ambassador and promotes patient experience excellence Collaborates with Access Center and Central Billing Office to support patient experience Minimum Qualifications Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York. If hired after 9/1/25: Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Associate Degree may be approved with conditions. Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association. Required Licenses Registered Nurse License-NY, Basic Life Support Certification Preferred Qualifications ACLS certification. Membership in pertinent professional organizations. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Salary Transparency Law. The salary range for the role is $42.50 per hour. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors. This range does not include bonuses or other compensation.
