RN - Stepdown

Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown unit. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The RN will be responsible for managing a diverse patient population, including those with heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke.

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Type: Night shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Administer and titrate intravenous drips, including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• Read and interpret telemetry strips
• Assist with troubleshooting respiratory equipment, including CPAP
• Work collaboratively with a Charge Nurse who also carries a full patient assignment
• Supervise nursing aides and patient care technicians at a ratio of 1:10

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required
• Ability to float to the ICU when necessary, provided the nurse has the appropriate experience

Additional Information

• Unit consists of 22 beds with a fast-paced environment featuring many admits and discharges
• Self-scheduling and cyclic scheduling options are available
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirements: One major and one minor holiday per year
• Orientation includes one 12-hour unit-specific shift
• Positive attitude, teamwork, and patient-oriented approach are essential for success in this role

• Artificial nails are not permitted in any patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in termination
• A driver's license is required for the submission process
