Accounting Manager (Healthcare)

Together, We Serve. People. Better. Overview In this role, you will be an integral part of our clients\' businesses. This is a highly visible and impactful role, both internally to SVA and externally to clients. 60% Client Work Execute engagements from start to finish by coordinating all phases, including planning, field work, review process, and client communications. Monitor progress of engagements relative to budgeted time and expenses and scheduled completion dates. Ensure all phases are carried out properly and in the best sequence, anticipating potential issues. Supervise the preparation of all work products to be provided to the client. Maintain continuous contact with clients throughout the business year and develop a thorough understanding of the client and their operations. Act as main contact for new client onboarding. Evaluate internal controls prepared by staff. Keep the In-Charge informed of important developments, with conclusions and recommendations. Prepare monthly billings. Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with laws, regulations, and SVA policies. Ensure duties are performed efficiently, typically 55 hours/week during busy season (including weekends) and 40-45 hours/week during non-busy season. All other duties as assigned. 30% Supervision and Leadership Assign work to staff based on knowledge and capabilities. Prepare and discuss staff performance evaluations. Participate in staff training; provide guidance, direction, and constructive feedback on work papers. Lead others, support staff development, and focus on engagement and retention. Conduct stay interviews and collaborate with leadership to address themes. Identify recruitment needs and participate in interview panels. Where appropriate, transfer client relationships to junior staff to align work with skill level. Identify poor performers and address performance while retaining qualified staff. Provide recognition to staff and focus on intrinsic rewards. Ensure career pathway plans for direct reports reflect actual work performed. Align with firm strategy and communicate developments to staff, explaining the "why" behind decisions. 10% Professional, Personal and Business Development Work with a mentor to develop career paths. Research complex topics, propose findings concisely with recommendations. Participate in SVA and community events, professional, civic, or charitable organizations; engage in industry associations. Utilize internal and external learning opportunities; refine project management skills. Serve as a mentor to accounting staff; expand services for existing clients; develop business consulting acumen. Develop and present internal and external training; write articles for publication. Lead moderate to complex internal projects and network with COIs. Achieve client retention targets and cross-sell / upsell goals. Qualifications Education: Bachelor\’s degree in Accounting or related field required. Experience: Minimum of 5 years\’ experience in public accounting required. Professional Certification: CPA, EA, or equivalent certification required. Role is based in Wisconsin.
