Details Work in ADTU and satellite Med-Surg/Tele units focused on decompressing the ED and other hospital specialty areas Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls, MVC injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA RN patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6, with surge staffing potentially increasing to 1:7-8 on the main unit 12-hour night shift (1900-0700), 36 hours per week Weekend rotation every other weekend No on-call requirements Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors Telemetry monitoring performed by unit nurses, with no dedicated tele tech; primary nurse completes interpretation each shift Floating required within assigned region and scope of practice to other facilities as needed Requirements Active RN license, NC or compact license required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required Skills required include stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, foley insertion/management, and PCA pump use Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF required Epic EMR experience preferred Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Support team includes CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurses, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7 Unit culture is described as close-knit, with staff and travelers welcomed as part of the team Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation Travelers required to work 75% of holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met Navy blue scrubs required Free parking available on site First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered Candidates must live at least 50 miles outside the home unit; local candidates not accepted Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position American Traveler Job ID P-747899.
