Clinical Nurse Manager, Infusion Services

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Manager for Infusion Services to join our healthcare team in Sitka, Alaska. This pivotal role involves overseeing the clinical operations and staff within the assigned infusion departments, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

The Clinical Nurse Manager will provide leadership, manage departmental resources, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a collaborative environment. This position requires a strong clinical background in oncology/infusion nursing combined with proven supervisory experience to guide and develop nursing staff while maintaining exceptional patient outcomes.

This is a 13-week contract assignment, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital healthcare service in a dynamic setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide oversight for the overall financial performance of assigned departments, including budget setting and cost-effective resource utilization.
• Coordinate Nursing Service orientation for new staff, monitor skill development, and evaluate preceptors.
• Make patient care assignments based on patient needs, assignment complexity, and staff qualifications.
• Review and recommend changes in staffing standards based on patient classification and staff utilization studies.
• Revise, implement, and administer nursing services and department-specific policies, procedures, and standards.
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers to arrange and conduct patient care conferences.
• Facilitate and participate in quality improvement activities to ensure high standards of patient care and identify areas for performance improvement.
• Assist in training and career development of staff, partnering with Education and Human Resources for ongoing education and competency validation.
• Update Job Descriptions and performance standards, evaluate staff performance, and recommend appropriate actions.
• Communicate potential administrative concerns and unresolved employee or patient issues to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Oversee the planning, preparation, and approval of staffing schedules and employee leave.
• Effectively delegate assignments to appropriate staff members and coordinate Nursing Service activities with other departments.
• Set and approve agendas for department staff meetings and establish annual departmental goals.
• Oversee supply and equipment ordering for the department and identify needs for personnel, equipment, supplies, and training for program planning.
• Initiate discussions with the CNO regarding area or department issues.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS) in assigned departments.
• Support organizational strategies, including promoting the SEARHC Seven Standards of Excellence.
• Serve as a resource for clinical care needs, following Registered Nurse position descriptions and stepping into patient care roles as required.
